Dancing with the Colors of Nature

This is a journey through one of the most picturesque parts of western Macedonia and along the wild beauty, the river Radika, up to the exquisite town, Struga. Inact nature, a symphony of colours, pictorial and idyllic nature make this part of the country attractive all year round.

A two-day tour

Skopje - village of Trnica - monastery of St. Jovan Bigorski - Vevchani - Struga - village of Kalishta - village of Oktisi - village of Radozhda -Skopje

Bridge Elenov Skok

Ever since ancient times, many important roads passed through this region, including a section of the famous Roman route Via Egnatia, basically a Via Sacra that the holy apostle Paul walked along in the first century AD. Many basilicas from the Early Christian period are located here. St Clement thought for 9 years in this region at the end of the 8th century. This is a remarkable area - you can see unspoilt nature combined with remains of an ancient human civilisation here.




Day one:

Arrival to the village of Trnica and breakfast

Continue the journey to the village of Tresonche and make a short break near the bridge Elenski skok ("Deer Jump") which is a true work of art that joins the beauty of nature and the mastery of the builders.

Monastery St. Jovan Bigorski

Continue towards the village of Tresonche and the cave Alilica that is near it. Possible visit to the Monastery of Sveti Jovan Bigorski (St. John) and a 30 minutes tour around the monastery complex. This monastery was first built in the 11th century and it houses the largest and the most intricate carved iconostasis produced in the 19th century.

Arrival to the village of Tresonche.
The village sits at 1000m altitude. It used to have 13 neighbourhoods - now it has several households only.
Continue on foot to the cave Alilica. A 45-60m walk along the canyon of Tresonechka River that springs up from the Alilica cave. Visit to the cave accompanied by specialized guides - speleologists. The cave is rich in stalactites, stalagmites and lakes.

Return to the village of Tresonche

Continue the journey towards Struga, pass through and briefly stop in Debar

Arrival in Struga and dinner

Day two:

Village of Vevchani 09:30
Breakfast and checking out of the hotel, continue journey towards the villages of Oktisi and Vevchani. [Find out about the Vevchani carnival]

Oktisi: visit to the old basilica from the 5th century


Village of Vevchani 10:30
Arrival in Vevchani, of the most authentic villages of the Struga region, located in the bosom of Mount Jablanica and enfolded by woods and water. Tour around Vevchani, possible visit to one of the old watermills where to this day crops are ground in the old-fashioned way. Visit to the Sifonsko wells at 936 m altitude, a miracle of nature that can be visited all year round.

Visit to Radozhda and the cave church of the Holy Archangel Michael - a 13th century church placed in natural rock - one of the most beautiful sites on Lake Ohrid.

Lunch in the village of Radozhda at the restaurant Ezerski raj (Lake Paradise)

Departure for Skopje
