The Mysticism Of Matka
A one-day tour
The tour will include an easy walk and visit of the church of the
Holy Mother
(Sveta Bogorodica), the Holy Salvation (Sveti Spas), the Holy Trinity (Sveti Troica)
and the Holy Sunday (Sveta Nedela). After this walking tour through the beautiful mountainous
Matka, you will arrive at the Monastery of
St. Andrea,
where a traditional lunch will be
served for you. A scenic journey by boat is also included. You will have a chance to look
around the canyon and to enjoy its remarkable quiet and unspoiled nature.
Like at most beautiful locations in Macedonia, there is a monastery church, St. Andrea.
The Monastery of St. Andrea was built in 1388-89 and is filled with frescos of great artistic value.
DETAILED SCHEDULE FOR THE TOUR
09:00
Departure from Skopje
09:45 - 10:05
Parking v. Matka - Church of the Holy Virgin Mother (Sveta Bogorodica).
Time for a visit and a short walk around the church (around 15 min, until 10:20).
10:20 - 11:10
Walk from the church of the Holy Virgin Mother (Sveta Bogorodica) to those of the Holy
Trinity (Sveti Troica) and the Holy Salvation (Sveti Spas). Both churches are very close
to each other, therefore the time for a visit and walk around them
will be around 30 minutes until 11:40.
11:40 - 12:00
Going from the churches of the Holy Trinity (Sveti Troica) and the Holy Salvation (Sveti Spas)
to the one of Holy Sunday (Sveta Nedela). There will be around 15 minutes rest
before you continue to come back to the parking.
You will be back at the starting point at 13:00.
13:00 - 13:20
Going from the parking to the Church St. Andrea. Then, you will have enough time to visit
the church as well as to enjoy the traditionally prepared lunch. After lunch you will
have a chance to visit the canyon by boat (Duration of the ride is around 45 minutes).
16:00
Return to Skopje.
