Take a seat in the King’s throne!
A medieval fortress built on a fascinating spot, a king's throne, a cave that hides a
spring of healing water, huge cakes and breads, an elephant on a colorful carpet - does
this sound like a fairytale? The location of the Fortress of Krali Marko (Markovi Kuli)

The fascinating Fortress of Krali Marko stands in the immediate vicinity of Prilep - enormous
monolithic rocks containing traces of a human civilization from the stone era (7 to 8
thousand years ago); a place where coins from the Macedonian kings Philip II, Alexander
the Great and Amyntas III have been found; where traces of a settlement from the 4th
century AD were also found and where a medieval fortress stands that was once the place where
the charismatic Krali Marko lived. This place full of legends will remain
an unforgettable memory for you.
Day one:

Arrival in Prilep and ascent to
Markovi Kuli -
one of the most memorable geo-morphological
locations in Macedonia, a combination of human and natural work of art, a region full
of legends about the hero of heroes, Krali Marko. The ascent to an altitude of 800 m is
an opportunity for a panoramic view of the entire area and the extraordinary forms created
by nature in the course of millions of years.
You will have an opportunity to go into Marko's cave, to see the Elephant, the colorful carpet,
the bread, the magnificent throne and enter the tower at the top of the Fortress of Krali Marko
which is one of the most beautiful medieval towers in Macedonia.

Descend from the Fortress of Krali Marko and visit to the monastery of
St. Archangel Michael Varosh.
Part of its terrace is an antique column with the oldest text written in
the Slavonic language - it originates from the 10th century.

Dinner in a traditional restaurant Makedonska kukja ("Macedonian House")
Day two:

Breakfast and a walk down the Prilep charshija ("downtown") and a visit to the
Institute for Old Slavonic Research - unique in the Balkans - followed by a visit to
the town's museum in order to see the exhibits from the Stone, the Bronze and the Iron
era, as well as the objects from Greek and Roman, as well as from medieval times.

Visit to the antique
town of Styberra
that existed for 6 centuries (3rd century B.C.
to 3 century A.D.) and through which the famous Roman route Via Egnatia passed. Tour of
the Gymnasium and the temple of the godess Tyche from the 2nd century.
