Macedonia is covered by mountainous territory marked by deep basins and valleys. There are three large lakes (Ohrid, Prespa and Dojran), each divided by a frontier line, and the country bisected by the Vardar River.
Macedonia is blessed with outstanding natural beauty. Do not miss a trip to one of the large lakes, Pelister Mountains, Shar Planina in the West, and the fascinating rolling hills and mountains of the East with its rice fields.

Macedonia is a parliamentary democracy where the constitution is the supreme law of the country, while the power is divided into judiciary, legislative and executive.

The judiciary power   is exercised by the countries courts with the head in the Judicial Supreme Court followed by the Constitutional Court and the Republican Judicial Council. All the judges are appointed by the members of the Assembly.

The legislative power belongs to the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, the Assembly (Собрание, Sobranie), which has 120 members elected by the peoples majority vote in general and direct elections for a four year term.

The executive branch is divided between the President of the Republic and the President of the Government - Prime minister. The government is elected by a majority vote of all the deputies in the assembly, while the Prime minister appoints the ministers. 

The president is the head of state, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Macedonia and chairs the national Security Council. The president is elected by majority vote in general and direct elections, for a of five years term, limited to maximum two terms.
